For researchers and journalists. Enter an article URL,
then use the methods below to attempt to locate an accessible version.
Methods are ordered from least to most invasive — try Method 1 first.
Nothing runs until you explicitly trigger each method.
Method 1 — Internet Archive: Queries the Wayback
Machine API for a publicly archived copy. Fully legitimate.
Method 2 — Proxy Extraction (opt-in): Fetches via a
public CORS proxy (allorigins.win with corsproxy.io fallback) and
extracts text using Mozilla Readability. Works only on soft
paywalls. Requires reading and accepting a disclaimer first.
Method 1Internet Archive (Wayback Machine)
Checks the Internet Archive for a publicly archived copy of this
article. Uses the Wayback Machine availability API. Results vary by
how recently the page was crawled.
Method 2Proxy Extraction (Experimental)
Researcher / Journalist Use — Please Read Before Proceeding
This method routes your request through a public CORS proxy and
uses Mozilla Readability to extract the article
text. It tries allorigins.win first, then falls
back to corsproxy.io. Your IP address will be
visible to the proxy and to the target website.
Important limitations and caveats:
Only works on soft paywalls — where article HTML is transmitted to the browser but hidden by JavaScript.
Will not work on hard paywalls where content is server-gated and never transmitted.
Some sites may block or rate-limit the proxy's IP range.
By proceeding, you accept responsibility for compliance with the target site's terms of service. Intended for research and journalism use only.
